By air
Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport (JZH) is about 88 km from the park entrance; airport buses and private cars take roughly 1.5 to 2 hours. Weather at this high-altitude airport is changeable and delays or cancellations are common, so leave some slack in your schedule.
By high-speed rail
Huanglong Jiuzhaigou Station on the Sichuan–Qinghai railway is about two hours by road from the park. It can be reached from Chengdu the same day, then continue by shuttle or private car. Rail plus a road transfer is currently the most time-efficient option.
By coach
Direct coaches leave from Chadianzi and other bus stations in Chengdu and take about eight hours. The mountain road has many bends — bring motion-sickness medicine if you are prone to it.
By car
From Chengdu the drive is about 400 km and 7 to 8 hours via the Duwen and Jiumian expressways. Watch for rockfall and for rain and snow on mountain sections, and check road closures in winter. There is parking at the entrance, but spaces fill early in peak season.
Inside the park
Shuttle buses run along the main valleys with several stops and you can get on and off freely. Boardwalks are separated from the roads — please walk on the boardwalks and do not linger on the roadway.
